Espresso Martini
Difficulty: Medium Prep time: 2 minutes
The Espresso Martini was created in 1983 by the bartender Dick Bradsell, head bartender at the Soho Brasserie in London. According to the story, a top model asked the bartender for a drink to help ‘wake her up’. Dick’s first thought was to use coffee, a drink that most people have when they wake up; and he added vodka, which was one of the highest selling spirits in the 80s. Then, to give to the drink an unmistakable flavour he decided to add a coffee liqueur; so, he reached for Tia Maria. He then added sugar syrup to balance the drink and the Vodka Espresso was born but was renamed Espresso Martini soon after!
